Early Intervention Program
Classrooms currently provide 3:1 teacher to student ratio for students. Intensive Behavioral Treatment (IBT) is provided within a language-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) educational environment where teaching is highly structured for acquisition of skills. The teaching environment becomes less structured as the student demonstrates the use of skills learned in natural settings and across routines throughout the day. Our general curriculum will teach each child critical language skills, functional activities, socialization, initiation/spontaneity and generalization of mastered concepts/skills. These skills are built into every student's educational program and individualized to meet his or her learning style and unique needs. The overall goal is to prepare the student for reintegration into his/her neighborhood school. Children with special are always wecome at Alia Primary School. Our children with special needs participate fully in the activities at Alia and therapy sessions (resource, behavioral, etc.) take place in the classrooms as much as possible so that therapy occurs in an inclusive, rather than an exclusive way.
Program support staff assist with carrying out individual program goals and help children participate fully in their class activities. A Resource Assistant helps identified children with special needs in our elementary program, working with each of them as directed by the classroom Teacher.
Alia Primary addresses the needs of children with various diagnoses, such as autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, P.D.D. etc.
